Kalasin is one of the provinces of Thailand, located in the North-East of Thailand.
"Kala" is dark "Sin" is “Water"  Meaning of Kalasin is darkwater.

Kalasin is an abundant province in the North-East. Archeological excavations showed that the Lawa tribe already lived in the area in prehistoric times 1600 years ago.

North close to Udon Thani and Sakon Nakhon
East     close to Mukdahan
West    close to Maha Sarakham and Khon Kaen

South close to Maha Sarakham and Roi Et

Where to visit

Kalasin has many interesting places, example,

Lam Pao Dam

The photo taken at Lam Pao Dam. A view out over the dam, quite a large expanse of water. The weather is very nice at Lam Pao Dam.

Suan Sa-on

There are several animals at Suan Sa-On such as barking deer, peacocks, monkeys, gibbon ,wolf etc. You can feed them with corns, breads, beans etc.

Sirindhorn Museum

We took this picture in front of the Sirindhorn Museum. You can see a large dinosaur statues.

This is a view in the Museum.You can see a lot of dinosaur bones, there are many species.

Phrae Wa Silk, Phu Tai Cultural Center

Phrae Wa silk is a unique style of the Phu Thai ethnic group of Ban Phon. It is divided into two patterns: Lai Lak and Lai Thaep.

Kalasin Museum

We were at the front of the City Hall.

We were looking the collections of good things in Kalasin.The museum features a lecture room, governor’s room, room show casing ways of life of the Phu Thai people, Wichit Phrae Wa room etc.

Wat Putthanimit ( Phu Khao )

This is a picture at Wat Phuttanimit, that all made of wood. Wat Phuttanimit there are old boundary stones found in Fa Daet Song Yang .

Wat Pho Chai Semaram or Wat Ban Kom

It is an old temple with a huge collection of old boundary stones of gigantic sizes.

There are a lot of old boundary stones.

This is a large Buddha statue,
Established under the Bodhi tree.

This is the Buddha statue made of plaster.

And a big of old boundary stones, telling Jataka stories and the life of the Lord Buddha.

Mueang Fa Daet Song Yang

It is an ancient town surrounded by earthen mounds with a length of about 5 kilometres.
